ATV Seat Covers
During the last several years ATVs have become a hot item for kids and adults alike. Many hunters are finding it a great advantage to take their ATV with them on the hunt. This allows them to quickly get to remote areas and to easily bring out their kill. One of the most popular accessories for an ATV is the ATV seat covers. Due to the wear and tear, many people need to replace their seat covers long before they sell or trade their ATV.
Here are some important tips to help you install your new ATV seat cover.
-
ATV seat covers are fairly easy to install. You will need a staple gun which is capable of stapling fabric to the frame. A spring style staple gun is fine but the mechanics use the air guns which is much easier and faster.
-
Once you have the ATV seat removed you can either take off the old cover or leave it on and cover over it. If you plan to leave the old cover in place you will probably need a stronger staple gun since the thickness will be much greater. Also, by leaving the old cover in place you will have a firmer seat. If you decide to remove the old cover you must make sure you remove all of the staples which were used to secure the first cover. You can do this with either a screwdriver or a pair of needle nose pliers.
-
If you are going to remove the old cover you will have better luck if you remove the seat brackets. This will help you when you start re-installing your new cover.
-
Start the recovering process at the front of the seat. Make sure you have everything lined up and fitted properly before you start stapling. If your new cover does not fit properly you will probably need to check with the manufacturer to see what you need to do.
-
Once you get the new cover aligned and you begin stapling, check to make sure the staples are not going all the way through where you need to sit. You should also make sure the staple is not visible from the outside.
-
Smooth out all of the wrinkles before tacking down the cover. Using a heat gun or hair dryer will help make the new material more flexible and easier to stretch. Wrinkles which are left make seating uncomfortable.
-
Begin working at one point with the staple gun then go to the opposite end while pulling out all of the wrinkles.
Custom Made ATV Seat Covers
If you would like to spruce up your ATV seat covers you can even go so far as ordering custom made covers that can be made to look the way you want. If you include graphics on your custom made ATV seat covers you will probably want to let a professional install them. This will allow them to put the covers on straight which will best show off the graphic design.
